This is a "tin kitchen" or reflector oven, which was popular during the first half of the nineteenth century. Meat would be secured to a forged iron spit with skewers. A hinged door on the back makes it possible to baste without getting in front of the oven and drippings for gravy can be poured out from the spout on the side. The body is assembled from several smaller pieces as large sheets were not commonly available during the period. These ovens were made in several sizes and other ovens were made for baked goods and smaller game or pieces of meat. Price with forged spit
and skewers: $550.00 (Only available through special advanced order.)
